EV3 MINDSTORMS Robotics - WRO JULY

A master class for learning techniques, procedures, coding, strategy leading in to competing in a Steam Works sponsored  competition team. This class will prepare you for competition using the Mindstorms EV3 kit and challenges laid out on a Competition team table. Teaches problem solving, working in a team, trouble shooting skills, perseverance, mechanical engineering, design, strategy, documentation, presentation and programming while making robust Robots that can win tournaments.

Build a fully autonomous robot using the included programmable VEX ARM® Cortex® based Micro controller & various sensor types. Students learn programming skills such as Robot-C, Robot Design and engineering process. Students can get ready and join teams to participate in VEX competitions organized widely across the nation

Vex Robotics Camp

Campers will explore environmental and sustainability solutions. Campers will dive into weather-related hazards and the impacts these events have on communities, people, wildlife, and the Earth. Additionally, campers will get a chance to learn about recycling and how its usage can reduce extreme weather. Through hands-on activities, they will examine real-world solutions and build innovative solutions using LEGO robots to reduce environmental impacts. 

Earth Heroes

Dive into the exciting world of sound and music production! This hands-on camp introduces the fundamentals of recording, mixing, and editing while exploring the creative process behind audio engineering. Basic music theory, arrange soundtracks, edit voices, add sound effects, and create their own unique compositions. From crafting music to exploring the art of podcasting, this camp builds skills that can lead to future opportunities in music production, audio storytelling, and beyond. Make paper planes and rocket craft, colorful straw rockets, fast moving balloon powered rockets, bottle airplanes, rubber band gliders & your own custom parachutes! Lots of educational activities for our Camp full of aeronautical engineers! A little about history of flight and fun facts in the world of airplanes and rockets!

Flying Machines Camp

Lights, camera, action! In this hands-on camp, campers will step into the director's chair and create their own mini movies using stop-motion animation. They'll bring their stories to life by crafting clay characters, design LEGO mini-figures, and building creative backdrops. With plenty of imagination and fun, these budding filmmakers will learn the magic of moviemaking-one frame at a time!

Movie Making

Get creative with soldering in this hands-on camp where campers will create unique projects using soldering techniques! They'll learn how to solder wires, attach components, and create their own custom designs. Then, campers will dive into the world of circuits, exploring how to build and wire up their own working electronic creations like light-up projects and more! It's the perfect blend of art and science, where creativity meets technology.

Turn your gaming passion into game creation! In this exciting camp, campers will learn how to design and build their very own games in Roblox. Using Roblox Studio and basic coding concepts, they'll create custom worlds, design interactive challenges, and bring their ideas to life. Along the way, they'll develop problem-solving skills, unleash their creativity, and gain a deeper understanding of game design.

Dive into the exciting world of electronics with hands-on crafts! Campers will learn to add LED lights, batteries, and switches to paper, wooden, and play-doh circuits. They'll create their own "silly circuits" that light up and make fun sounds! Perfect for creative minds eager to explore the magic of science and technology! Highly engaging and educational in a practical way - make light up cards, what are LED lights and how do they work, what does a circuit do, battery power!

Silly Circuits

Get ready to blast off in this exciting rocket science camp! Campers will design and build air-pressure and alcohol-powered rockets, learning the science behind propulsion and flight. They'll also experience the thrill of rocket launches using real rocket engines! With hands-on projects, students will dive into the scientific, technical, and engineering principles of rocketry, gaining valuable skills in experimentation and problem-solving while having a blast.

Rocketry

A practical hands-on science and craft camp for kids to enjoy and explore the amazing world of science! Conduct experiments with food coloring, baking soda and other safe ingredients. Make your own oobleck! Build paper airplanes, sturdy bridges, and balloon powered cars amongst other fun STEM activities.

Super Science

Assemble your own custom DIY gaming console from scratch. Learn MakeCode Arcade, CircuitPython and make your own custom games. An entry-level gaming handheld for DIY gaming, and maybe a little retro-emulation. It's not the fastest and best of everything but it is an all-in-one-dev board with a lot of possibilities and completely open source! Rumble effect and sound along with a rich TFT screen and headphone jack makes it a beautiful take home portable project while learning about electronics, coding, fabrication and assembly!

DIY Game Console

Get ready to build, and program your own remote-controlled car! In this hands-on camp, campers will explore the world of electronics and coding using Arduino technology. They'll assemble components, wire circuits, and program their RC cars to navigate obstacles and follow commands. Along the way, they'll develop problem-solving skills and gain real-world engineering experience.

In this camp, campers will explore how our eyes and brains work together to see motion and images. Campers will investigate visual perception, light, and illusion by creating classic optical toys. Through hands-on building and experimentation, students will learn how still images can appear to move and how simple designs can trick our eyes. 

Science of Illusions

Ready to learn and master the game of chess? In this engaging camp, campers will start with the basics and then dive into strategies and techniques to outthink their opponents. Through fun challenges and paired gameplay, they'll sharpen their problem-solving skills, practice patience, and develop strategic thinking. Plus, they might even get the chance to 3D print their own chess piece!

Learn how to create laser cut wood and acrylic works of art or highly accurate technical creations. Learn cuts and engraving techniques and the tools that make design come alive. Make a custom puzzle, wooden gift boxes, a starship and many more cool creations that you can design and take home! We will be using a desktop glowforge Laser cutter, Inkscape, Adobe illustrator and gimp will be used for design and illustrations.
